I rather think it will be all over by March.

I doubt it, but I'm pretty sure they are not going to try and enforce another strict lockdown here again. People just don't want to cooperate with that anymore. I think the government should try and do whatever keeps the ICU admissions down to a manageable level but keep in mind that after 2 years of changing policies and no end game in sight we just want to get on with our lives as best we can. Taking precautions and living with some restrictions is still doable, but another Christmas and New Year's without friends and family was never going to work. Especially when there is no one to check how many people are in your home. That said, I'm perfectly happy to cooperate with a strict lockdown, but after so many strange and often sudden policy changes I would like to see some explanations and projections of successrates etc. first.

Well, I'm awaiting for the Omicron variant spike to subside before I book a session with my barber. My Little Pony has returned, and I was planning a shearing until the whole show went to hell in a handbasket. Again. We've had three spikes in the past year.

I don't think it will be very long before things are back to normal. It looks as though Oregon is two weeks behind the UK and that the UK will be back to November levels in another week. But I could be wrong

I am not totally sure what is going on in Europe right now. A friend has just had to cancel a holiday on the continent

Cases are spiking in France and other European countries even higher than the did last week in the UK. Many hospitals are overloaded causing some governments to restrict travel.

But I could be wrong As long as you mean the "new" normal, I agree. By March I think most countries in Europe will be over the Omicron wave ... and standing by for whatever the next wave will be.

The numbers of infections are quite high here, especially in Bremen. No Lockdown, but massive restrictions for unvaccinated people. Not sure where this is going.

Hi Elis!
Case numbers (both daily new cases and active cases) are definitely falling in the UK and starting to in Finland. I think we're seeing the Omicron wave start to fade.

In that case, I guess you still have to get through a few more protests.

Yes. Hospital here had been so stretched thin to the point of collapse that they started to have to bring ones that are covid positive that have no symptoms . Since my husband hires doctors, they had no choice. It’s either that or the doors close. You could imagine what it would be like if you had a heart attack or car accident and there is no hospital open.

Apparently all restrictions will be lifted this week, which is odd because I thought that they already HAD been.
And the Queen has it.

In other news, truckers threaten to take over Canada unless...what? No mandatory vaccinations, no masks, no WTF?

We have MPs who would rejoice at the possibility. The 50-strong group calling themselves the Covid Recovery Group (CRG) of whom my MP is a member. They are probably the driving force behind Boris Johnson abandoning all Covid mandatory protection measures in the UK. They call it 'freedom'. The same freedom that caused us to break away from the EU, no doubt.

How long before the inevitable next wave forces them to re-introduce some restrictions?

From what I've heard and experienced of corona is that the people around me, including my family, really didn't experience more than a cold. Some people spent a day or 2 in bed, but most just had the sniffles. Mind you, these are all vaccinated people who got ill in the last 4 to 8 weeks. Corona really spread like a wildfire in dry season.
