The bookies are offering 500/1 on the lettuce.
It would get my vote.

The Daily Mail has sidelined Penny Mordaunt. They think she is irrelevant, which she probably is.

Now, see... If your royalty was worth a tinker's dam, their function right now would be to dissolve Parliament and call for general elections to be held in the standard time span (what? six weeks?). The present government is a clear and present danger to the nation. The Crown needs to act to end this chaos and bring law and order back to governance.
Then, I would prolly think that the Crown had at least one worthwhile function. But...It seems it doesn't.

Can they legally do that? I know they have to approve an election but I am not sure if they can demand one. The DM has always been pro Boorish . I really don't want to see him back again. Not that I want to see anyone as PM .. except potentially the lettuce

The Daily Mail has sidelined Penny Mordaunt. They think she is irrelevant, which she probably is. And Boris Johnson isn't? C'mon... It's fairly obvious Mordaunt is much less popular than Sunak or Johnson and that she has zero chance of being elected. Therefore, there is no point in the Daily Mail considering her. On the other hand, Boris might or might not be sponsored by 100 MPs. If he does not, Rishi Sunak will become prime minister. If he does, he will receive the notoriety of Tory members voting for him. And if he is elected, there will be 'fun and games'. Several MPs will leave the Tory party, 55% the population will cheer, 45% will be disgusted (I'm guessing the percentages) and the media will have a field day while the rest of the world shakes their heads in disbelief. So yes, Penny Mordaunt is irrelevant and Boris is very relevant to the ridiculous circus of choosing a new PM.

Not that I want to see anyone as PM .. except potentially the lettuce Well, the Crown used to do that. Chuckie One dissolved Parliament a couple of times and decided once not to call them back up and ruled without them (thanks to a pension from the French king) for some eleven years. I suspect that all the fiddling that the Stewarts did with the 'constitution' engendered a parliamentary reaction and forced subsequent legislation that changed all that folderall. I'm holding out for Larry. He has been reliable and steady the whole course of this debacle. Chuckie should select Larry and bring an end to this madness.

The Lettuce. That is all I can say. Larry can be Chancellor.

You realise it is the ambition of all cats everywhere to achieve world domination. It seems Larry is ahead of the field.

With luck, he may be the last ever Tory Prime Minister. We can only hope that the Tory party will completely break apart before or after the next General Election.
Not that I expect things to be any better under a Labour government, but Labour governments usually give the appearance of being very slightly more honest.

The next prime minister will be Rishi Sunak, it has been announced. Penny Mordaunt has not reached the target of 100 MP backers.

Well, then, I wish y'all a LOT of luck.
And Boris is still irrelevant. He was when he was elected and pretty much always has been. He's a muppet and a bounder.
