We pay a lot for land here, a acre of land on which houses may be built might cost £300,000 in the north of England or £1 million in the south. Farmland is much cheaper, typically £10,000 per acre, I believe. Housing estates with ten houses per acre might cost £30,000 for the land alone and so builders tend to build houses close together. I bought 5 acres to build on for $85,000 last year but it’s in the suburbs so I’m not surprised.

The largest fracking earthquake in the UK occurred in April 2011. It had a magnitude of 2.3 and was felt locally. As a result, the government has abandoned fracking probably because of its danger to local housing and the enormous damage it would make to the government's image. I believe Oklahoma has also suffered earthquakes from wastewater disposal. Wastewater disposal is a process in which fluid waste from oil and gas production is injected deep underground far below ground water or drinking water aquifers. Meanwhile, Oklahoma suffered an earthquake of magnitude 3.6 from fracking in 2019. It is said that damage to buildings does not usually occur until the earthquake magnitude reaches somewhere above 4 or 5. They are never big enough to feel to be honest. But piers on my home have been pretty good with that. We typically have piers on our newer homes these days. My new plantation style home will have about 25 piers on it for that reason anyway plus steel framing added into it. Plus clay here in Oklahoma is everywhere so settling is worse than earthquakes at any rate. Which is why brick is so cheap here. We live in the land of red clay. There have been a few 5.0 to 5.4 but it did nothing to us really and that one was years and years ago. Just older homes had issues.

There was a 5.8 magnitude quake south of Wichita, KS that cracked peoples' foundations and basements all the way up here in 2016. Any quake in southern KS or OK would be considered fracking related. It doesn’t help the fault lines that exist already. Earthquake happened well before fracking. Just in less. … way less frequency. Can’t wait for that Madrid fault that caused a country wide earthquake back in the early 1800s. Made Mississippi River flow backwards for a time. I think they say that if it were to happen today due to population movement the entire middle of the country would be destroyed from Tennessee, Texas, to Eastern Colorado, and Nebraska. Creepy thought

I was anxious the day before I learned about the appointment. It did not help, however.

Exactly. The Goat started it. I did, I did! I admit it. And Joe finished it. Kudos! It could have used a rimshot, though...
