I was really annoyed with the Conservative party. They knew they would lose the election and so they cut taxes beforehand and engineered promises from Labour on borrowing and taxes, thereby stymying Starmer's ability to raise taxes and borrow money. But already, Starmer has outwitted them by appointing three non-political ministers, one of which is the Prisons Minister whose aim is to cut the prison population and thereby avoid raising taxes. Full marks to Starmer on Day 1.

Look...I don't know how you interact with those you elect to representative office, but how are they supposed to represent you if you don't impart to them your interests? We have done that already in my constituency by holding a forum at which constituents could voice their concerns. I rather think phoning our elected representatives so soon after being elected would go down like a lead balloon. It might work in America but not here.

Well not all. But yes, too many. And I fear that Trump will be back in soon, unless he drops dead of being a dickhead. We can only hope.
Keep sending those thoughts and prayers.

Yeah, here, the first one with the foot in the door usually gets the ear of the new 'representative'. There will be masses of constituents and non-constituent donors on their doorsteps trying to obtain and monopolize their time and energy. One town hall isn't going to imprint on the mind of those with adhesive palms and short memories. Persistence...endurance of presentation of the message is important, while growing the support base for your program, if you wish it to come to fruition.

only the good die young . He'll probably keep going till he's 120. Yeah...Like me. Just fading as time goes by... Coming and going like a passing gas attack. To fade again like the song of the sidhe in the distance. Flog those members, now! You'll get no satisfaction unless you do!

[To fade again like the song of the sidhe in the distance. That sounds very nice, though I don't like the rest of what you said. I don't think you're a bad man and I definitely hope you'll stick around for as long as you're still happy with

However, I've heard it said (on BBC prime time news), that there will be hundreds of people telling the prime minister how to do his job. I don't want to be one of them. So what do I want? - Our local hospital is crumbling, the ceilings are falling down and it recently made the front page of the Mirror newspaper. Obviously, that's of very great interest to me. But Lisa, our local representative, has campaigned heavily on that very issue. And she has shown to have a great deal of energy in the past. Her response is more likely to be, what do you think I'm doing? Please leave me to do my job. I want my intervention to be effective.
- BBC is failing to publish athletics, in an Olympic year no less. I want the BBC to advertise their athletics programmes effectively. Lisa is probably unaware of this but how and when do I get her to take action? She's a Liberal Democrat when the government is Labour. Probably her only effective action would be influence the Sport and Media minister, Lilian Greenwood. It's a long shot but it risks being hidden in the 'nutcase' drawer if I pester her at the wrong time. I've decided now is not the right time.

Great, tangent. At least you've given it thought and approached it strategically, although I think you can best work with her by encouraging all her appropriate moves and statements.
Reward her with pats on the back and recognition for actually doing what she promised to do while on the hustings. Positive public feedback for a job well done.
Perhaps a pecuniary donation to her re-election campaign.
Rinse and repeat.
My representative of some 20 plus years is retiring at the end of this Congressional session. He is the Grand Old Man of two caucuses in the House...bicycles and cannabis. I've never liked him personally (I've met him multiple times), but he has always been on the right spot, saying the right thing, every time the controversies broke out, so I've never felt the need to do much other that send him encouragement to continue to do what he has been doing. He has been a hardcore 'progressive', often being at the elbow of AOC and the 'gang'. Now, he will be replaced by the candidate the Democrats selected to replace him. She is a professional pulmonologist, so intelligent and driven. She had been serving in the state Senate for a couple of terms and is on point on the rising healthcare issues and reproductive rights, so it is prolly a politically acceptable baton hand-off for the Democrats. My district is the 'bluest' district in the state. Earl, the retiring congresscritter, pulled down some 79% in the last general election as, like, a ten time incumbent. So, I have my work cut out for me learning the style of my new Congressional representative and how to best access her, should I have federal level legislative fodder for her. Pharmaceuticals issues could be a bugaboo with her...we'll see.

Redundancy!! Redundancy!! The second one is an attempt at editing by the original author and I actually more exacting.
