Herb.. "erb" sounds weird, and my English teachers were mostly Americans..

Our guinea-pig is named Basil and it was the first time the vet had ever heard that name. They pronounced it like it was French.

I always wanted a rat just so I could name it Basil, with the proper accent of course.
It's 'erb' here in Atlantic Canada, which is strange, because we often pronounce H in words that it is dropped for in other regions of North America.

Herb, not 'erb. In my mind the 'erb pronunciation is a North American thing.
