It's a Star Trek thread, but not as we know it. Star Trekkin' for the benefit of Moose!

That reminds me of something I saw when I was living in Bournemouth. I had bought something from a computer game shop and at the time new Star Trek game had come out. On the (very narrow) till receipt, was written... STAR TREK WHATEVER MAKEITSO#1 ...at the time I had not seen TNG (which was current at that time) and I couldn't for the life of me work out what the hell it meant! "WHATEVER" isn't the the name of the game; I can't remember what it was called specifically!

Patrick Stewart was on The Infinite Monkey Cage on Radio 4 last week. Someone asked him about the fact that on almost every episode they kept coming across inhabited planets and never seemed to just find barren, uninhabitable ones. His response was "Well, we never bothered to film those episodes!"

It would have made for a more realistic but rather duller show.

Seven of Nine has just made an appearance. I still get tingles.

I've only seen that episode the once. I have missed a huge amount of Voyager thanks to BBC stopping showing it half-way through the second time round. They show it on cable TV here now, but it's always on at silly times or I forget to watch at that time of day.

I'm also glad to see the back of Kes. I have tried to like the character this time round but she still gets right up my nose.

Aw, she was lovely. I attended a one-day course in Oxford a few years ago when the Kes episodes were being shown. Also attending was a young woman who looked like Kes in profile and sounded exactly like her (but with an English accent). It was weird.

Maybe it was her kind of innocence and vulnerability?

For me her 'niceness' seemed so false it made want to throw up. It is probably just me.

So how did you feel about the episode where she gets inhabited by the evil male dictator, or her comeback episode (series 4?) where 'Angry Kes' comes back to take her revenge on Janeway?

I don't remember the episode but I imagine she was still sweet.

I don't remember the episode but I imagine she was still sweet. Ha, no she wasn't but that didn't work for me either. I think it was her voice that I didn't like although I usually like ladies with fairly deep voices.

I checked the details in the Source of All Knowledge - it was episode 6/23 ... and she was a Very Angry Okampa, not to mention a rather elderly looking one (having lived 1.5 nornal Okampa lives by this stage).

I think he's one of the most annoying characters ever! Actually I didn't mnd Wesley most of the time but I could have cheerfully flattened him in that episode when he completely smashed some glass garden frames and when his friends rushed up he said 'its alright I'm OK'. He didn't give a toss about the damage he had caused through his own stupidity. (What he didn't know of course was that he was going to face the death penalty for it. )

A very modest punishment for damaging horticultural equipment I should say. Still better a Wesley than a Weesley!

I'd have just gone back to the ship and waved out the back window as I left.

Oh, you mean Wesley Crusher? I could not break my focus from Wesley Wyndham-Pryce from Buffy/Angel to leap there for ages.
