Ayup, I've had an acknowledgement. My first thought there was... "You are a crank!" Thank you for kind support.

Well, you did say you thought they they'd think you were a crank and then, "I've had an acknowledgement."

Star Trek nerdy is knowing where the toilets are on the Enterprise! Being nerdy is learning to speak Klingon. There was a guy on the former IIDB who was teaching it to his young child.

Just finished watching DS9. Excellent series which I think has become my favourite ST. Full of lessons for today like all good scifi. Going to start from the beginning again.

To quote Julie Andrews, that's a very good place to start!

I always thought the money system was odd, especially since in other series they say they don't use money anymore.

I expect an interplanetary money system would be even more complicated than the mess we have now. Money is what the powerful use to suppress the rest of the population. If it doesn't exist, it is inevitable that it will be created. I wonder what the Daily Mail would make of the immigration problems..!

I always thought the money system was odd, especially since in other series they say they don't use money anymore. In all the series, possibly apart from "Enterprise" money is not used in the Federation. I don't remember it being mentioned in "Enterprise" so I'm just not certain.

I thought you were talking about rewatching DS9. In that show they use gold pressed latinum to pay for things.

I reckon it was just an excuse so Kirk could get out of paying for pizza!

I thought you were talking about rewatching DS9. In that show they use gold pressed latinum to pay for things. That was Ferengi currency not Federation. When Jake wanted to buy something for his Dad he had to beg Nog for the latinum because he did not use currency.

The Star Trek Federation has no need of money any more.

Watching final episode of DS9 (again). The character of Dukat in this episode seems to me to be a direct 'steal' from CS Lewis's 'unman' in Perelandra. Also Asimov has has a huge influence on ST as a whole. Must do a study sometime. (Makes a mental note)

I liked it season 1 enough though The only things that really annoy me are the horrible fighting scenes where everyone just stands waiting to be shot and Sisko's horrible tone of voice. Very flat. Though he has shown that he can act.
