I think I already need to have enough conversations with strangers in the bar. I just can't handle more.

I am the opposite, I don't talk that much, besides with my kids and hubbie. By the way, we are having power cut tomorrow from 7 am to 6 pm I'd prefer not to talk to that many people. it's exhausting, but just comes with the job. 7 am to 6 pm is a very long power cut.

I agree. Our house would get very cold if we had a power cut as long as that (the gas boiler needs electricity to function).

Ours also depends on electricity to burn oil. I might drive the kids to the nearby town for lunch in the afternoon.

I stayed in the office all night a while back because the electricity company said there would be a power cut between 8pm and 6am for a while. I shut down all the kit and was waiting to start it all back up again, but the power cut never came. I ended up going to sleep on my inflatable bed on the top floor, which is currently unoccupied, for about 4 hours before going down for breakfast (not in my pyjamas).

I plan to sleep late tonight and do some work. I am of course charging my laptop and iPad. But no power means no internet (my husband will go to work in the office tomorrow). But if I get to the nearby town I could use the wifi in the restaurant. I need to check my e-mail from time to time to see if there is new job coming up. That's me, working freelance.

I must say I am noticing a huge difference in the temperature of my house since they did all that insulation stuff earlier this year .. it's brilliant. No more sitting watching my breath

Our heat is natural gas, so as long as it's already on, a power outage only cuts the fan. We still get radiant heat, which isn't great, but better than nothing.

You should erect a wind turbine in your garden at once! There's a nearby company which currently has a 250kW turbine which has been working for several years now. They're currently under construction of a new tower (55m, according to a press release), which will generate 850kW! I saw the turbine blades today on the way into work and they are freaking HUGE!!!

There is one near me at Green Park that appeared on the sky-line in a matter of a couple of weeks. It generates 2.05MW! I suspect it dwarfs your one.

Perhaps, though it's difficult to judge the size from the picture. Or, there aren't any tall buildings that close to the ones near me for comparison sake.
