No butter, but you can easily make with vegetable oil. You can even get away without putting egg in cake but the cake will be flat. A colleague won a vegan cake the other day, was gorgeously decorated but turned out to be fruit cake so I didn't really like it.

What is nutritional yeast? As compared to baking yeast or brewers' yeast? They are cheesy flavored yellow flakes. They can be sprinkled on popcorn or pasta like you would do grated parmesan. They can also make fake cheesy sauces and gravy. The yeast is deactivated, so you cannot use it to make bread rise or make cheese beer, unfortunately.
