It is elderly. Rather heavy on the mileage. Not that I mind as long as it works, but now it has started spluttering and turning the tirespinny break thing on after its coughing spells which makes for a horrid ride until I reboot it. I have to drive on much too low a gear to minimise the coughs. And I am afraid it will just explode soon. I drove two hours back like that yesterday and still feel seasick. Probably some fuel injection [jargonjargonjargon] thing.
Essentially, it is having a stroke.

Oh, and there are coaches in to Lohja and from there to Helsinki, but it's much too slow and out of my way to be useful for work or dog shows, plus the cost is astounding. 13.60€ to Helsinki, about 3.50€ for the 8 km to Lohja. Each way.
We have freight trains, but they only go to boring places.

Can you afford a newer car? And ... I have often wondered ... how do you pronounce Lohja?

I can't afford to even service my old car right now. I'd have to take a loan for a new one, which would crush what remnants are left of my monthly budget which is already having a meltdown. But at least I can do almost half of my work from home these days, so hoping for the best. Won't need it now until the next dog show on Saturday, though getting to a bigger shop than the ones in the village would be nice.
It's "Loh" like you were saying Loch, but without the guttural Scottish growl, and "ja" like... a soft j and and ah? Ya?

Maybe I'll slip it into conversation with a Finnish colleague this afternoon and see how much she laughs.

I'm home now too as I had to talk with my lawyer. Hoping all this work hullaballoo will be over in the next day or two. Then I will have nothing to do and will be complaining here about boredom.

How bored are you now?

Not bored yet as still catching up on EF posts. And before that writ emails to my best friend and to DG who is at work. And also ate lunch.

But now I see there are no more posts to catch up on. Bored now.

Of course it has seasons! The rain is a lot colder in winter! 30-35 degree span at least. -4C on several days over winter, 33C today. Here, we have four seasons with prevailing climatic conditions...windy rain, cold rain, warm rain, and road construction.

That took some time hunting! I was delayed in leaving and then neglected to post immediately on my return. Shall attempt to do better next time.

Neglecting to post immediately is an EF crime.

I've not been posting in well over 12 hours! I'm home now too as I had to talk with my lawyer. Hoping all this work hullaballoo will be over in the next day or two. Then I will have nothing to do and will be complaining here about boredom. Is "lawyer" also pronounced "loh-ya"?

I dunno. Something like that.

Is "lawyer" also pronounced "loh-ya"? Despite all my careful explanations you are dropping the "H", aren't you?

I brought up Lohja with my Finnish colleague and she said "I don't know that ... oh,"Lohja"."
I was missing out the quotation marks, obviously.

Indeed, the quotation marks are an important part. We are a bit of a joke to the bigger cities. Though "Tampere" shouldn't be throwing any stones, really.

They named a company after the town. It makes gravel and cement. Which is fitting for the way Lohja is viewed. A little thick.

You said "like you were saying Loch, but without the guttural Scottish growl"... that's the "H!"

No, that's the "crhrch" they put in after the "H".
