Zoom has the option of using a regular phone to join the meeting using a special number. Once you call, you use the meeting ID and you're connected to the Zoom meeting.

I don't think phone-in is available in the UK. Our vicar sends invitations to us by email but the invitations don't include a telephone number.
I have a free account and my invitations don't include a phone number.

It looks like it's an add-on that the Zoom subscriber has to pay for.

It's 24°C outside and we have just collected our groceries from Sainsbury's. But both the beer and the wine are far too warm to drink. The beer needs cooling down to 9°C and the wine to about 18°C. But we shall survive. [/sarcasm]

943 780 I'm glad church attendance has skyrocketed My church does an online stream as well, but I generally watch the service on tv. The good part about Microsoft teams is that you get a link and you have to do is click on it. No further installation or tweaking required. Very userfriendly for the recipient, but I understand it's different for the owner of the meeting plus it requires a paid account for the owner

943 779 It's my birthday. I'm at home with our girl who's ill. Probably teeth again. Good thing: she's almost done with the whole teething, just a couple more.

I tried to post in Afrikaans on Facebook ... probably got the spellings wrong ... and it may look weird anyway to a Dutch speaker.

953 775 I can read Afrikaans, but I don't have Facebook anymore. Thanks for the birthday wishes! Kye, we intend to start potty training next week so fingers crossed it's only one kid in diapers in fall...

952 771 Hehe, the Dutch version is gelukkige (or more commonly fijne) verjaardag. So not too different from Afrikaans. My grandmother's sister emigrated to South Africa so I've read cards and letters in Afrikaans.

For everyone else's benefit, because Mari obviously knows, that just means "nice" or "cool" or "great" ... some would say it's untranslatable.

952 76 You would use it to say someone was tasty? Yes. Though present tense only, usually. It's used in grading as in he's hot! Tasty thing! -- that sort of context.

943 761 You would use it to say someone was tasty? Yes. Though present tense only, usually. It's used in grading as in he's hot! Tasty thing! -- that sort of context. In the UK, it would imply more than that. You would say a woman was tasty if you recently covered her in honey and...
