943 248 I was playing with my dog yesterday evening and my glass of wine got broken. I was cleaning up the shards when I noticed some wine had splashed on my computer keyboard. Now my power light keeps flashing off and my battery won't charge.

Oh he high-tailed it out of the room as soon as the glass broke and hid until I had it all cleaned up.

Did you have some wine left?
I don't dare to ask about the computer.

FrG it took me a second to see you missed the page!
Joe, sadly, the last of the wine spilled when the glass broke. The computer is working at least --although I'm afraid the battery is toast.

Nothing happens in our house these days but this afternoon, the plumber came to mend the boiler, the doctor rang for a telephone consultation and we're expecting someone from the ONS survey team to collect swabs for testing for the virus. All within an hour. It's like buses, you wait ages for a bus and then three come along at once.

Good morning, I have been invited to receive my first Covid-19 vaccination this Saturday morning, 23 January.

My parents have also been given appointments this weekend!
Have you been told when your second dose will be? They haven't yet.

No, only that the government is recommending a gap of 12 weeks before the second dose and that I would be invited nearer the time.

I was very surprised at the decision to make the gap between vaccinations so long in UK.

It makes sense, I think. The crisis is with the health service. If that is overloaded, many more people will die. As it is hundreds of thousands of health workers face PTSD for years to come. The gap between vaccinations is hugely beneficial in bring the health service under control and stopping health workers being traumatised more than they are.

I take your, powerful, points but was concerned that the manufacturers of the vaccines are being very hesitant about whether they will work to specification with such a long gap between doses.

943 231 Decided to check the radiator fluid and washer bottle fluid in my car for the appropriate coolant tonight because the temperature is due to go down to -3°C and nearly put screen wash in the brake fluid container! That would have been rather unfortunate

But your brakes would be nice and clean, failing to grip but nice and clean .. ... ....

I have an early memory of that with my Dad's car, when I was about 12. He got air in the brake fluid which made the brakes 'spongy'. To make them work, you had to pump the brake pedal three or four times, which in an emergency might have been a slight hazard. I'm not sure what the effect of screen wash would have been but I suspect it would have lightened my bank balance.

Right now, I feel as though I need an MOT. I slipped and fell over on a muddy path on my daily walk and jarred my right knee. I suspect it's going to be very painful in the next day or two.

I suspect it's going to be very painful in the next day or two. 943 224 Ooh yes, the bearings have gone on that knee. When did you last have it replaced? We're going to have to order in the parts. Unfortunately it only comes as an entire leg unit, so it's going to cost you a bit, but we can give you 15% off.

I'll check that out with Pat who had a replacement bearing in her shoulder a few years ago. I'm just hoping I can get away with an oil change. We'll have to see.

Just make sure you get proper manufacturer-approved cartilage. Alternatives could void your warranty.
