I'm reet poorly again, as they say in Yorkshire. Same infection I had two weeks ago, a sore throat and headache.

942 793 I'm on holiday with my best friend. No partners, no kids, no responsibilities and no cooking. We bought readymade salads and stuff. It's lovely. We'll do it again next year.

What rate do you think would realistically get us to zero?
Also, hi!

Gooseberry crumble? Plum crumble? Apple crumble? Rhubarb crumble? Quince, apricot and date crumble?

Maybe it was just crumble without any fruit.

I'm just about to have leftover Indian food from my favourite restaurant for lunch! I'm very pleased because the potato in one of the dishes doesn't seem to spike my blood sugar, contrary to my expectations...

Could that be because the Indian meal is fatty? I've heard that fatty meals slow down digestion and absorption.

942 779 It's a lot more complicated than that --it's a dance between carbs that quickly turn into sugar and those that take longer, protein, and fats. The big trick is not to have food with carbs that have a high glycemic index on their own. Like a piece of apple blueberry crumble.

I had blackberry and apple crumble with a light Creme Anglais as my desert this evening.
Less happily, I had a gastroscopy last Friday and have been diagnosed with a hiatus hernia ... most unwelcome. The leaflet said that the gastroscope 'is about the size of a woman's little finger' - when I finished choking on it I concluded that she was a bleepin' big girl: it was about 15mm diameter which is a lot to get down the gullet. They took a biopsy as well but I have not had the results from that yet. All without sedation of course, this is Mordor, after all.

All without sedation? They usually give you a bucket load full of Valium. I hope the biopsy is benign. Are you going to have an operation to fix your hernia?

It was uncomfortable but once I had choked over the probe (to let it through the gullett) there was no sensation at all because there are no nerves in the aesophogus.
I had a bit of internal bruising but that has gone now. The hernia can be repaired but the surgery to do it is quite serious so it is better to adapt behaviours so as not to provoke it ... e.g. sleep on side (already do that)avoid caffeine (tick) reduce alcohol intake (tick) reduce weight (working on it) and the like.
Find the place on your chest where the ribs start to splay apart, go in three inches/nine centimetres inwards and that is where the damage is ... ... which is why they avoid surgery.
All jolly good fun. Like a good Mordorian I shall simply pull myself together, appropriate under the circumstances.
