942 650, oh, I'm quite sure they wouldn't mind. You can solve all their tech stuff in addition to adding to their crochet stall at the markets. They might even make you their poster boy.

942 649 oh, I'm quite sure they wouldn't mind. You can solve all their tech stuff... Are you suggesting a group of 50 ladies is unlikely to have anyone who is technically competent? They might even make you their poster boy. *shudders*

942 648 They probably do, but groups of women generally pick the guy closest to fix their stuff. I do anyway. I'm pretty good at being blonde when necessary.

942 634 It's Tuesday. I have a new colleague. After 2months I had kinda expected him to be contributing by now. He isn't.

My company used to hire people on a trial basis for three months. If they were contributing successfully, they would be hired on a permanent contract but if they were useless, they would not be employed permanently. There were one or two people who showed great promise at their interview but turned out to be clueless.

942 632 Well, I'm casebuilding at the moment. No use having a serious conversation about things like this without facts to back it up. It would help if he just asked questions, but he doesn't. *shrugs* His excuse is that he's afraid to disturb us.
In other news my cold makes me feel terrible. Every time I feel it's getting better, it will act up again.

942 631 In that case, I won't ask you questions in case it disturbs you Sometimes at times like this it's best to bring in your manager. Anyway, perhaps you need a few days off just to get better.

942 629 Oh, I'm not worried about my colleague and the situation. As a former student coach I've had deal with worse, only now I can push the responsibility of the difficult talks and decisions on to my manager. Lovely!
And I think you're right about resting to get better. I was feeling very ill this weekend after having had to take care of 2 little girls Friday, so I had to rest yesterday and feel much better today. That's what happens as a parent though. Can't take time off.

942 627 Eldest will turn 3 in March and Youngest is almost 15 months. She's starting to walk, though she's already an absolute maniac behind her walker and has been for months.

942 625 I've been watching Call the Midwife. It really does feel so recent! Especially when you see familiar situations in a show like this. They're both quite the characters as well. No one will ever accuse those two of not having an opinion (Just like their mum eh?)

942 624 I went to the baptism of a friend's baby girl on Sunday and got to hold the baby for quite a while. I always forget how small new babies are. Especially their tiny fingers.

942 622 I now understand what 'nautical twilight' means. I had a doctor's appointment this morning at 7:20am and had to set off from home at the beginning of nautical twilight. It means you can just see the horizon (enough to navigate at sea) and it also means you can walk along the canal without falling in the water When I set off I was not allowed to drive (because of my recent stroke) but by the end of the doctor's appointment, I was.
