Pip doesn't half sleep a lot these days. Well, he's always slept a lot but now he sleeps a lot a lot I don't think he's ill - he looks healthy and he's a healthy weight, maybe a little heavier than he used to be due to being less active but not overweight by any means. He eats well and he always seems happy to be with me but he is spending a quite huge amount of his time asleep now. I guess that he is just getting old - I do not know exactly what his age is as the RSPCA were not sure but he must have turned seven by now. I feel sad to think of him getting older (and sad too that I never got to watch Merry do the same). I hate the thought that one day I will lose him

Cats will happily sleep most of the day if they are well fed.

I guess. He is generally happy to be woken and made a fuss of at least so I don't think he's sleeping for any medical reason.

I thought being asleep was a normal state of being for cats.

Yes, mine tend to sleep a lot. But when they decide they want their food, they can get very active! >_<
