I know we have done this before but it was ages ago and we have a new Cat Person here now *beams at Kate* so here is a thread where we talk about our cats, current or previous. I currently have one at, a seven year old male who is white with the occasional black splodgy bit. I got him as part of a pair a little over six years ago. Because he had been ill-treated for the first year of his life it took several weeks to gain his trust and he is still very nervous around strangers and will not voluntarily be around people he does not know. He is an indoor cat by choice and intensely affectionate with humans that he knows well. He has made me very happy the last six years and I hope that I have done the same for him He is sitting in between me and the keyboard, nodding occasionally

I have two cats --Silk, a Siamese/Abyssinian cross and Louie, a Lynx-point Siamese. Silk is 2 and a half and Louie is 1 and a half. Silk loves to jump. He'll jump onto my shoulders from time to time, and spends most of his time as high up as he can get. Louie is very affectionate with me, but shy with others. He meows a lot. I mean a lot. If he's not sleeping, he's meowing. Silk gets along well with the dog, but Louie has never really taken to her. Fortunately, they have all made their peace, although none of the animals really seem to like each other very much. They all like me though.

I have 2 cats from a shelter, Tybbalt (Tybbe) and Puck. Tybbe is a typical housecat and Puck is black and white. They both have white tips on their tails. Tybbe is adventurous, manages to open doors and get into cupboards just for the sake of it, Puck loves food and therefore follows Tybbe on his heels if he gets into places they both shouldn't be so he can see for himself is there is some food to snatch. Tybbe is at the same time a big coward who can be affectionate to everyone, but prefers women over men (that has something to do with the male builders he encountered...) whereas Puck isn't afraid of anything and will only come to you to be petted if I'm not in the same house. Puck is my baby, sort of. Recently, Tybbe has started the annoying habit of meowing a lot and very loudly when he wants something or is bored. Unfortunately Puck seems to be picking up this habit... NB: shouldn't this be in Pets?

NB: shouldn't this be in Pets? Yes, I've moved it. Browsing the InternetCleo sitting on the modem and pretending she has her own browser window.

My two, probably taken about 6 months or so ago. They don't really look like kittens any more, but they're not yet as big as they are now.

I, surprisingly, also have two cats, two black females called Inca and Maya. They were happy overlords for some time until I recently also got two dogs, so now they have to fight for attention.

I have a black cat in Reading who lives with my dog. I dread to think what they are up to in my absence. I am currently sitting with Pippin on my lap, who is an utter traitor in the Moose's absence.

Yes...but it's a general pet topic. Generally. About cats, that is, specifically general.
Dog gambit.

My cat showed interest when I got back from my holiday... for all of two minutes. He always paces his appreciation, whereas the dog stores it up and reacts like I've been gone for five years!

Mari your white with black bits one looks a lot like Pip Their tempers appear to be quite different though. Puck is a bit of a clown and he can jump real high. When he was young his favourite spot used to be my neck. Now he's a bit too big to drape himself there, but sometimes he still tries.

I don't need any alarm clock. Didi issues her most pitiful cries at 6:30 every morning, even when she has food in her bowl. I wonder if she just wants me to clean her litters or just wants her human to take a look at her. Oh dear!

When you leave - even for a few minutes - or just look like you're about to leave, dogs assume the worst, that you might be gone for months and they have no idea when their next meal will arrive.
Cats also assume the worst ... that you might be back too soon and wake them up.

Yes, dogs are very social animals and do not like being alone. You'd hope after almost 7 years Honey would have worked out that I wasn't leaving though!

Hobbes used to really hate luggage and furniture moving. Either one would send him in to an anxious state...often with ears back.
We're pretty sure he had abandonment issues....which is how he came to be with us.

Thanks yes, I think my Mittens is quite light for a ginger, with some orange/gold sections of fur.
