Mine do that too. I think they are just trying to get hair on my travel clothes to spite me or something. >_<

The Ravenswood household has be re-catted!!! We're now felinated. Today, we did a search of two local facilities that do adoptions for the county animal shelter and the local state Humane Society. Finding nothing which piqued our fancy, we tootled out to the county Animal Shelter. We came home with a brand-new rescue kitty. He is a tutored male of about 4 months in age, so he's still basically a kitten. He's black with white paws, white chest and belly, and white blazes on forehead and one lip/whisker pad. He's a 'Tux'. His right ear tip has been lopped, meaning he was marked as 'feral' at one point. (The story is that he was trapped and was a wild one when he came in to the shelter, but really liked the attention - and regular chow - he got in the shelter.) He is also part Manx, as he has half a tail and it is slightly twisted. And, lastly, he is polydactyl. He has more paw pads on each foot than the standard kitty. We haven't done a count yet, but you'll get the reports as they are revealed. No pix, yet, either. They, too, will be forthcoming. Additionally...We also set in motion adoption for a second, female kitty. She is a 6 month old Abyssinian looking (stippled agoute coat with mahogeny head striping) female. She had not yet been spayed and that is on schedule for late today/early tomorrow. We should have her in-home by Monday late, if not well before. KITTIES! Multiple KITTIES!!! (Both kitties have 'shelter names'. The male is 'Hemmingway', as a nod to Ernie's commitment to maintaining polydactyl cats on his legacy property. The female is 'Jamaica'. Swimmer thinks 'Jamaica' is wrong and it should be more Egyptian. She leans to 'Jasmine'. I'm not a big Hemingway fan, so I'm pushing to change to 'Murray', one of the two names I was holding out for....the other being 'Riley'. ('Riley' needs to be an orange tabby, though.) So...We just opened the box, waiting for him to exit, but when he didn't, we lifted him and introduced him to the litter box. I've got to go check.

I have my cat back now. She's currently sitting on my lap and purring. She's old and walks with a bit of a limp and she takes a while to psyche herself up to jump anywhere but she does manage for now. She also has growths in her ear which I guess is the cause of her deafness. Still cheeky though and getting her own way. My parents are complaining that since I came back she is more spoilt, always meowing for attention now.

When I was posted to work in Warsaw 13 years ago, I had to leave my cat back home. My mom took her to Warsaw 2 years later after I gave birth to Franek. The flight gave her such fright that I promised her I wouldn't do it again to her. She was withdrawn for maybe a month before getting normal. It's very clear that she knows I am her human. She is a shy cat and only sits on my lap.

Yeah, they remember very well. I last saw Lily 3 years ago for our 3 week visit so I wasn't sure how she'd be but she knew me right away though she didn't behave her normal self the very first day. So she was happy for me to pick her up and would stay with me purring, but it was after a couple of days that she herself started coming to me. Actually she exhibited some funny behavior now, we're not sure if she's just fallen in love with Ronald or the more likely scenario she realises he's with me and if she wants to boss me she also has to boss him. Anyway, she keeps jumping up onto his lap (well when I say jumping she puts her paws up as it takes quite a bit of effort for her to jump now she's so old) and she sits between us a lot. It's really cute. My mum says she was licking Ronald's slippers the other day too. Until now she's never been like that with anybody but me.

Maybe she can smell Ron on you and vice versa - that's a tricky one to suggest without being rude.

Cats? The rumor is that my household now has two cats.
I arrived home last night after work and left this morning to catch the bus to work and in the intervening period, I never saw so much as a paw or tailtip....I'm not convinced that there are actually two felines in my home.

Well, Swimmer reported that Cleo (nee Jasmine) was quite the sociable feline from the time she was brought home until I showed up. At my entrance, she disappeared.
Murray remains hidden.
*sigh*

After the work here by my workmen, Tybbe was scared of men. Even of my dad whom he knew quite well. He's over that now, but it took a couple of times.

Last night, I got to meet Cleo. Even pet her. She's still getting through the post-surgery blahs, so she's not ever-present. But, Swimmer reports out that today Cleo is in an 'adventurous mood' and is exploring.
Last night, Murray also made a reappearance. In the bathroom, where we'd looked for him...man, he's found some top rate hiding places. He's still very shy and did not come out from under the clawfoot tub during the time I was in there, trying to entice him out.

When I got back to the house today, there was a conspicuous absence of Tinker. I searched his usual sleeping spots and was starting to wonder where he could have got to... ...finally, I opened the door to the downstairs toilet and shower and out he came.

Update:
Cleo is now acclimating herself to the entire main floor. Swimmer is home because the census count is down at her workplace, so she's had the opportunity to spend a fair deal of time under Cleo. Cleo is distinctly her cat.
Murray continues to hang out in the main floor bath. We thought he'd escaped to the full main floor, but he's still spending most of his time ensconced inside the bottom of the pedestal of the pedestal sink. Snug, if a mite noisy when somebody uses the sink. He has made brief appearances outside the bath, but scampers when he sights hoomins lurking. I just got a message in from Swimmer that he has emerged, in the company of Cleo, and is sitting out in the hallway, cleaning his face and staring at Swimmer. No scamper....progress.

Yeah...pix are distinctly on my agenda. Tomorrow starts my weekend, so I'll have more dedicated daytime hours to do some 'wildlife' photography.
My other objective is to try to 'socialize' Murray a bit more...I think I may invest in a small packet of bay shrimp for the purpose.
