Last night...or, more accurately, early this morning, at about 4 a.m., the master bed with two sleeping humans inserted in it, became the romp playground of two kitties. I was trampled repeatedly. I assume Swimmer was, too.
Cleo has become consumed with the desire to go outside. She has window peering sights in various window seat locations throughout the house. She comes regularly to my modeling workbench because it overlooks a window on to the tree above the kitchen. Swimmer has made sure the Cleo has gotten a good long look at one of the SQRL mafia...she is 'interested'. Bwa-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha. When she's not curled up in a donut, or checking the windows, she seems to be on 'constant cruise'...'rugshark mode', as I call it.
Murray, on the other hand, is more interested in testing all the possible beds in the household accessible to him. "Outside?....Whatever for? Been there, froze my tail off." He is presently back in the center of the now empty main bed....it's ALL his. Although he is still a bit skittish (sudden moves and looming will induce scampering), he has shown a craven addiction to the 'sparkle-pom' (a pom of reflective mylar strips on a resilient plastic handle) and will give up almost all inhibitions to chase the sparkle pom.
And, of course, they get together for 'play dates'....Often on us.

My sister's cat is called Pip as well. Short for Pippy (as in Pippy Langstockings).

Oh, I missed a page. Kitties love sparkly things. Mine love the "laser".

Ooooo....I haven't even brought in the laser pointer.
Thank you, Mari.

You obviously haven't seen Austin Powers. It's a "laser" (Use your fingers to quote in the air whilst saying it) How did they like it? Cleo as a hunter could love it.

Actually, she was mildly interested, he more so. But interest faded fast compared to the whole sparkle-pom addiction.

I ought to get one of those laser things. I don't think that Pip gets enough exercise. Not that he is overweight at all but I worry that he does not have enough fun in his life.

...interest faded fast compared to the whole sparkle-pom addiction. I misread that as "sparkle-porn addiction." Thought you'd been trying to get the cats to watch Twilight! Pretty much all of the cats I have had have taken a massive interest in toys for a day or two, and then turned completely uninterested in them for perpetuity.

The only one that my cats keep chasing is the "laser" and the sparkle thing. I also have one of those. But the range on that one is limited, whereas with the "laser" I can get them to run around the whole living area from my seat.

What good looking kitties! If you want a truly fiendish toy for them, try a Cat Dancer. I've seen kittens and old cats play to exhaustion with one.

The new Overlords have acquiesced to joining the hoomins in the evening on the hoominez bed. This started because Swimmer spent a couple of evenings tiring them out before our bedtime...in hopes that they'd sleep through. It sorta worked, but the bedlumps show up at the bed at 7:30 sharp, expecting play time. They are now sleeping either on us or near us in the bedroom. Even skittish Murray has given in...hell, he's the first there for playtime.
All in all, acclimation proceeds apace.

Oh, that's a useful toy! They can keep themselves busy. You also have lasertowers that 'fire' in random patterns (someone spot the contradictis in termino there?), but you have to turn them on and then they last for 15 minutes.

Evidently, Cleo has decided that she likes to demonstrate her appreciation and affection by leaping to her current favorite human's shoulders and draping herself there and rubbing her face all over the human head, face, and shoulders. We've identified the 'look' she demonstrates when she is ready to engage in this behavior and we can encourage it by bending over to allow her easy access. As flattering as this might be, she can be quite robust about her affections and the perch is not the most stable...so claw action is a distinct likelihood. Still, it's a trait I'd seen in others' cats, but never had one around my house that engaged in shoulder sitting, draping or riding. Swimmer has come to occasionally traipsing about the house with 'cat aboard'.
Furry Murray is not interested in shoulder riding. He is eagerly awaiting the arrival of multiple CatDancers. These hoominz just don't play for long enough, often enough.

My Silk will leap to my shoulder, often from behind. Sometimes he just launches himself confidently at my chest, assuming I'll catch him.

Puck used to do it as well. With his current size he doesn't quite make it anymore. Nor do I encourage him >_<

Kitties are at their worst when they use their claws to make sure they can get grip... on your leg!

Puck is very good at that too. >_< And Tybbe wants to catch your hand or finger to start grooming him the moment he feels relaxed and cuddled. Rather painful sometimes.

I seem to be perpetually covered in scratches. I know also that he does not realise that he is doing it I do not think that they realise just how sharp their claws are

Mine is currently sleeping on me and giving me aches. I've thankfully managed to teach Honey not to use me as a pillow, but cats seem to be rather more selfish and do what they can get away with.

Mine are used to having to shift the moment I feel like shifting. Today whileøooking at my house throuygh the eyes of others, I realised I do have a cat friendly house, but otherwise I don't really accommodate them. I think.

Cat friendly: Cat toys everywhere. Visitors inadvertently kick them about as they stroll through the house. At least one spot in the house is odiferous and crunchy underfoot. Several upholstered spots are either in the process of rapid organic frictional decomposition or acquiring increasing amounts of cast off cat fur. Crumpled paper wads abound. Cups and bowls placed seemingly randomly about the house with varying levels of water. More cat toys.
