We need a dog thread. I'm up to 7 now. Recently rescued two ex-racing Greyhounds I just can't say no. *sigh*

My dog is in sad shape right now... She's full of allergies and very stiff with arthritis.

Aw, I'm sorry to hear that Kye. Is the allergy thing seasonal?

I am just sorting out the last of my dog issues for the time being. Just been to the vet who is going to file the insurance claim for me. She has cost me a small fortune recently. About 70% or it should be covered though, thankfully!

Aw, I'm sorry to hear that Kye. Is the allergy thing seasonal? It is, but she seems to have developed even more as the years go on. It used to be just ragweed. Now I think it's leaf mold also. In any case it's just non-stop scratching.

One of my JRs gets very itchy at this time of year. We don't know what causes it but a course of prednisolone usually does the trick. I say usually - unfortunately he's just finished the course and is still scratching. I wonder if whatever it is that triggers it is the same for your dog, and if it's particularly bad this year??

It's bad alright. The meds the vet gives her makes her pee uncontrollably. Like all over my sofa... She just lies in it and doesn't seem to realize when it's coming out of her. Not very pleasant...

Thank heavens for insurance! What was wrong with her Colin? Hope it's all OK now? She had diarrhoea about four weeks ago due to something going on in her bowels and there has been a cyst growing for about 2 years in her side. It was a sphere about the size of a pound coin when they removed it. The vet had been happy to just monitor it previously, but recently decided that it needed to be removed, whatever it was.It was sent off for histopathological analysis and it came back as a benign fibrous growth. I spoke to a lady at the insurance company and they said it should all be covered. She was also spayed (Honey, not the lady at the insurance company) and had a second, tiny lump removed from her tail during the same operation (to save cost and operations). That was two weeks ago and she has had her cone off for a few days and we are walking increasing distances each day again. Just got home from the vet's who are going to complete the claim.

All in all, just over £1000. Won't get the money back from having her spayed as that's not an insurance thing, but need as much back as I can before the end of December as I need to pay off as much as I can from my new motorbike.

I am not currently allowed to carry passengers and I don't think I'm allowed a sidecar, either. Don't think she's appreciate zooming around at the near-warp speeds I achieve!

I don't know because we didn't have much time to talk yesterday. She said something about 74 cm and 50 kg, though.

I'm proud to say that I'm not as much afraid of dogs as I used to be.. at least I no longer change my direction when I see one from afar, and I don't feel as tense when I walk by..

I phoned the insurance company this morning to find out where they were with my claim and it turns out they've lost it somewhere and it had to be started again!
