So, I am a gardening failure. The front of my house is peopled by tubs and grow bags that are doing very little. BUT! here is the thing. It rains a lot here and in one particularly large tub I am trying to grow marrows. THere are no marrows, just a big spindly plant that is clearly never, ever going to produce anything edible. The top two or three inches of this tub are filled with rainwater on top of the soil and I stopped emptying it out weeks ago.
Anyhoo, there are things LIVING in there. If I did not know better I'd say that it was tadpoles but then, where on earth would a frog have come from? But there are small (getting bigger each day) spermy looking things actually living and swimming in the water.
I feel quite maternal. Does anyone know what they might be? And - if they are something new, am I God?

If you have tubs, you have to make sure to make a hole in the bottom. Something for next year. And frogs might be possible. They travel quite a distance.

When there's stuff growing in water in our back yard it's usually mosquitoes.

When there's stuff growing in water in our back yard it's usually mosquitoes. Miisa and I decided not to tell Jo that's what they probably are ...
