Suddenly I discovered that my passport has expired. I had for some reason the idea that it would expire next year.
But within "Norden" (Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Finland and Iceland) I only need my ID-card. But I still feel a bit worried. I have never travelled abroad without a passport before.

I think you'll be OK.
I get a bit freaked out here in Australia flying interstate because they don't even check any ID. Fair enough you don't need a passport but they could atleast check I am the person getting on the flight.

Are you flying within the Nordics? Anywhere else you will need it, but there are ways of getting emergency emergency passports at airports. Or so I hear.
Contact the airline, I'd suggest.

I flew to Munich with some work colleagues in 1967. My team leader was under the impression that, because we were members of the EU Common Market, we didn't need passports. At the time, Manchester Airport didn't check passports on departure and so Terry had a lot of explaining to do when we arrived at Munich. "I don't need a passport," he said, "we're in the EU." Munich was non-plussed.

Sounds like your national ID card will be enough?

Were we in the EU in 67?

No, we weren't even in the Treaty of Rome. It was wishful thinking on behalf of my team leader.

Travelling within "Norden", a driver's licence is enough. Travelling within Schengen an ID-card is enough. But I would not dare to go to Germany, Netherlands etc without a passpart. Travelling outside Schengen, i.e. to UK, a passport is mandatory.
Nobody asked for my passport. Not in Sweden, not in Norway. When I arrived to the airport of Bergen, I saw "Schengen" and "All passports". But nobody went there, everybody turned to the left instead and so did we, and after much walking we were in the the arrival hall. Maybe all were Nordic citizens.

Bergen is a beautiful place but I would not like to live there. Too mountainous (Bergen means "The mountains"). www.fjordtravel.no/destination-norway/picture-gallery-bergen/I had heard that London was rainy and foggy but when we were there, there was tropical heat. Bergen is famous for being rainy but when we were there, tropical heat. It was heat record of 33,4 C. How lucky we were! Well, lucky for hubby. I sweltered.
