Some of the press here have been speculating that the US's relationship with the UK might go down with Biden in office. To me, whilst it would be regrettable, there are no circumstances under which I would have wanted Trump to remain. I really regret the government that we have right now though and I would not blame Biden for a second if he was not overly keen to engage with us. Thing is, we've alienated most of Europe too so .. now what?

There’s no way we’d have faired better under Trump. He’d have seen we were desperate and forced us into accepting dodgy deals such a medicines, and wanted a slice of NHS action for a start. He’s a crooked businessman - he’d have done us no favours.

Well, you may be on the outs with Europe, but we're on the outs with most of the rest of the world. The Trump years have irrevocably perverted our international standing and the results of the recent election really don't offer a firm promise of not returning to the insanity of Trump again. Why in the fuck should any other country on the face of the planet trust the United States in any kind of international agreement? When the next populist wannabe dictator can just trash them on a whim? Trump has poisoned the well, possibly forever.
I suspect as nations separated by a common language and cursed by very similar genetic madness, that we will be thrust together as two outcasts that happen to be shirttail relatives. For good or ill, for either nation or both, I have no inkling. But, I suspect we shall both be shunned until we can play nice. And prove it.
