We've ordered strawberry plants, tomato plants, carrot seeds, compost, some 'bins' to grow them in and some seed potatoes . Some of them are here but we're still waiting on the compost.

Soon your house could be like Miisa's flat - things growing in every room (except the bathroom). Not yet on the balcony on account of still being frosty, but in the summer the balcony will be a riot of tomatoes, cucumbers, violets, and lots of other things.

When I was 13, I planted a potato in the back garden and it grew pretty well. I had not heard of seed potatoes and used one left over from the groceries. I'd learnt that plants sprouted from the 'eyes' but I didn't know what they looked like and it didn't appear to have any. So I dug out a few eye sockets to give it a start. Nevertheless, it survived. My Mum wasn't pleased though when I told her it wasn't a pretty flower.

Our compost arrived today (delivered to our neighbour as Col was not home and I do not answer the door ). Will get everything started tomorrow!

I wished I could grow things again. It so nice to do that.

Watercress can be grown in-house in a small pot on your windowsill. Several herbs as well. Snacktomatoes as well, though you need to support it once it really starts growing.

I have a small plant growing in a small crevice near my car's windscreen wipers.

Unfortunately bending over and squatting can be a problem right now during healing. I suppose I can have my brother do it. He moved in to help me with things.

It might make you feel good to be growing something .. though obviously don't if you don't feel up to it!

When we were first married, we moved into a new house with a medium sized back garden where the thought of gardening grew on me.

Have you had any sun? At all? I think tomatoes like lots of sun.

They are on the windowsill but not really. We had to plant actual tomatoes and they've just turned to mould

I wouldn't know how to plant tomato seeds, I've always grown plants from prepared seeds seedlings.

I shall see if Miisa grows her tomatoes from seed. There's probably a complicated process for germinating seeds with any reliability.

I did order seeds but they did not turn up with the rest of the stuff I ordered (they refunded me) so I just got the container and the soil. I was advised to plant tomatoes in there

What happened in my garden was I'd leave some tomatoes to rot and the year after new tomato plants would grow.

I shall see if Miisa grows her tomatoes from seed. There's probably a complicated process for germinating seeds with any reliability. Miisa says she did nothing special with them. She put them directly in soil, not the complicated process I envisaged. Should be kept warm and moist. Warmth might be the key, especially if you are keeping the house quite cold. You could try a different variety. Best results with the cherry/plum ones. And quite ripe even overripe.

I don't really care for cherry tomatoes . These are just bog standard ones.
