Today I discovered that I have access to a free video streaming service via the university library. Available to staff as well as students. Cool.

Can you get everything on it? Stranger Things? Game of Thrones? The Tour de France live?

I went to the gym this evening and gingerly did some exercises. To my surprises, the arm exercises strained my tummy muscles more than the leg exercises.

A youngin! Happy birthday to her.
I went to see a film in the Scandinavian Film festival today. It was a Danish film called "Happy Endings" which I had my doubts about as it's Danish and they only depressing stuff. But it was pretty funny, though there was a death at the end.

You can always tell it's a new barmaid when she looks in the chiller cabinet for a red wine.

Red wine is supposed to be served at room temperature but whose room temperature? When that rule was first introduced, rooms were generally a lot colder. If I can be bothered, I chill red wine by about 2°C and I have to say it tastes a lot better than normal room temperature.

Thunder is very difficult with dogs. It feels horrible not to love and hug them, but that ends up confirming their behaviour and they get worse. We humans are the opposite, so we have to fight our own instincts to do what's right.

Lots of flooding near where we live. Five extensive flood alerts within a 2-mile radius and severe flooding in two places about three miles away. Some friends of ours were stuck in traffic for an hour and a half until police directed them back to where they came from. Unfortunately, they didn't know which way they could go to get home.

944 369 I have received over 320 likes to a Facebook post that I made yesterday. That's the most I've ever had. I was following Bernie Sanders and made a comment about free healthcare in the UK on one of his posts: It seemed to gel with quite a few people.

I usually only drink red wine in winter though, and it's pretty cool even at room temperature at that time of year.

Fun!
Maybe we'll get to Europe again in 2021 for potential moots. Next year looks like we'll be meeting the family somewhere in the middle. Which really means Asia or North America because anywhere else requires going via those places and takes as long as getting to Europe!

Good to see Joe.
Getting back was... interesting. Being a Sunday evening when trains stop at 9pm, I missed the last train to Marple and had to catch the train to Stockport (and subsequently the bus to Marple). But the buses to Marple were restricted because of the threat of the dam bursting in Whaley Bridge. In the end it turned out all right, I got home without too much trouble.
