944 030 How was your holiday by the way, Kye? I admit it went by me a bit, hence the late question.

944 029 It was great, but very strenuous. I had thought there would be more sitting around the pool watching the young people exercise, but in fact there were only 2 young people and all the rest were either retired jocks or very fit oldies. And the accommodations were very basic --no pool. I ended up just going with the flow --so hiking, swimming, horseback riding, white-water rafting, kayaking, etc. I came back sore in muscles I didn't remember I had.

944 029 Sounds different from what you imagined, but like a lot of fun too! Would you do something like this again, or would you make sure it's a pool holiday next time?

It's not so much pool holidays I'm after as getting a feel for the society and history of the place I'm visiting. There wasn't much of that in Costa Rica. It was more finding out about the fauna and flora of the area --very interesting it's true, but I had had enough after the first week or so.

Whereas my parents go on holidays specifically to see (and be guided to) fauna and flora.

They should go to the Galapagos then. Apparently, they're spectacular.

944 019 *sigh* Working while my husband is off with our friend and daughter to an indoor playground. I'm jealous. I wish we won the lottery so I could find a job I love again.

The landlady at my local pub had a worried expression on her face as she served me an alcohol-free Becks Blue. "Are you giving up alcohol for Lent," she asked?
"No," I replied, "I'm having a minor operation at Stepping Hill [Hospital] on Wednesday and I'm not allowed any alcohol beforehand." She was greatly relieved. All these alcohol-free periods are bad for the trade!

944 016 Elis, no I don't. It's okay, but boring for low pay. The salary I was promised upon graduation is not going to happen or so I've been told.

944 014 Yeah, but I'm talking to managerial people to come to a solution. They've noticed I'm really smart so it should be possible to find something else in this organisation, though I'm also looking for a job closer to home. I don't mind a boring job if everything else like the salary is okay.

944 012 Had a super busy birthday weekend. Our girl was spoiled rotten and enjoyed herself so much she couldn't sleep at first but when she finally fell asleep she slept soundly till morning. She didn't even wake up through a diaper change last night...

Not fully, that will take another five weeks, but recovering well with no adverse effects so far, thanks.
I am not allowed to drive for another two weeks in case I have to do an emergency stop. Just typing that makes me think 'ouch'.

Running low on Paracetamol and Ibuprofen, I found some tablets at the back of our kitchen cupboard in a box we hardly ever use. And there I found an old packet of Ibuprofen with a Use By date of November 2013. I'm going to throw it away (or take it to the chemist to throw away).

944 005 We're actually quite low on food so Pat is shopping in the local supermarket. Some of the shelves are a bit empty but very little is sold out. There is no chicken but plenty of pork, lamb and beef. Pasta is all sold out but there is some rice. There are a few toilet rolls, predominantly Asda's cheap stuff but not very many. Plenty of beer though

944 004 I hope new toilet paper will come in somewhere this week since at the end of the week ours will definitely have run out. I didn't anticipate a run when I made our shopping list last week...

I often get supermarket deliveries. Not only is it easier for me, it's also claimed to be more ecologically sound to have one warmed-up vehicle make the trip to several houses than to have lots of individual car journeys.
Not any more ... all delivery slots are completely booked up for the next 3 weeks. I will have to go and share germs with other shoppers.

That's tough for the over 70s who are being asked to stay inside for the next three months and not go to the shops or visit anywhere where there are people. My daughter, Deborah depends on online deliveries because she is disabled.
