So...What will you do to observe Triple Dozen Day?
Happening only once in this century. So far...
It will fall on a Wednesday, so take that into account.
Are you prepared? Have you completed your Triple Dozen Day shopping yet?

One of my very good friends is getting married that day. Unfortunately we will miss it as we could not really afford the time and money to go to Australia right now. A bit bummed about it but I guess we'll get over it eventually. Other than that I will go to work as usual.

Good question. I think I'll celebrate by buying a dozen eggs, a dozen muffins, and a 12-pack of beer.

Aren't we all dying that day?

Wasn't in my plans. EF will be a bit quiet if we all do that.

My son is coming home from college for his winter break that day. I certainly hope that world doesn't end, because I'd like to see him.

Aren't we all dying that day? I think the event you're thinking of is tenatively scheduled for a fortnight later.

Sorry, I don't understand the OP. Maybe they don't observe it in Mordor. Here in the western world, we have inherited a curious means of counting the passage of time. An abbreviation of that counting system will render the Wednesday just over a fortnight hence as 12-12-12....even in both tracking systems, Briton and USer. Thus, it is the Triple Dozen Day. In our calendrical system, it comes but once a century.

We still have 20/12/2012 to come, at least in the UK! (One day before Mayan Armageddon ) I still remember someone getting excited about 01:23:45 6/7/89 and 12:34:56 7/8/90.

I've heard it's International Soundcheck Day, 1-2-1-2-1-2.

oh is it the twenty first we die? I had thought it was the twelvth. I understood the Solstice (winter here in the northern hemisphere) was to be the last day. Or, is it the first day of nevermore? I don't think it matters much. I like the International Sound Check Day. "Testing...testing..." And, Jaun wants to go as well....Juan, too! Juan, too! Juan, too!

I appear to be working that evening. So the end had better not come or my help lines will be flooded. Not working the next day, though, so I could drink.

Which is worse? Working or ending up in purgatory?

According to our vicar (with tongue in cheek), only those who don't believe in Jesus will be taken up to heaven during the rapture (to be cleansed). Christians will be left behind. So you had better make sure you're wearing your best frock on Wednesday, Miisa.

This is the last triple header we will ever see, unless any of us are still around January 1, 2101.

I'm afraid this is based on entirely wrong assumptions. Christians will be left behind and will be able to look after their pets whilst non-Christians will be subsumed into a cleansing world. It is the atheists who need to take out pet insurance.

But by that logic won't the pets then be raptured as well? My dog is not very Christian.
I must say I have never heard it that way around before, every account I have seen has it the other way around, that devout Christians will be raptured up to heaven and the rest of us will remain to endure the trial, torture and tribulations of this world ending before the second coming of Christ and his followers and the eternity that follows.

Even my son heard about the end of the world. But I am so out of sync with dates and year as usual (I almost forgot it's my husband's birthday yesterday), I don't have a clue what's going on. And like Kaylee, I have not the least interest in following the news and theories concerning this date.

My dog is not very Christian. Happily my cavia are very devout and live their whole lives under the protection of Our Lady of the Tramshed. They know when to squeak their alleluias. Thank you for the explanation of triple dozen, a caprine person; have a karma ration on me.

Pets do not sin so they do not need to be raptured. I will be able able to to give you a fuller answer (hopefully) after Ian's sermon in a week's time.

I always understood that it was the Christians who were being taken too. Anyway I am not doing anything - going or staying - unless Pip can do it with me

I always understood that it was the Christians who were being taken too. I can't answer that until next week or two weeks time.
