I smote WG once, but just 'cause he asked for it! No harm or offense meant by it. And I'm no worse for wear for it. I just don't understand all this getting het up over a smiting. It's not like it really accomplishes anything. We've established that a poster could have negative karma and still be posting away. We've heard that administrators can set the karma figure for any poster to whatever the administrator happens to feel like at the moment. Ergo, it has no meaning. Nothing can be ascertained about the poster from their karma standings. And, if it worked how I think it should, smiting another poster should result in a reduction of karma for the smiter, not the smitten. But then, that would depend upon the whole setup having some meaning.

But then, that would depend upon the whole setup having some meaning. That reminds me of a friends idea that cars should have a button in addition to the horn that scores a point for everyone in the vicinity when pressed, including the person who pressed it. Anyone with lots of points would be investigated about their driving. That way, drivers who annoyed lots of people would score a high number of points and people could not abuse it or they'd get a load of points themselves.
