I've just started this trilogy - I've been meaning to read them for years. Anyone else read them? No spoilers though, please.

Spoiler: the third book is significantly different from the first two. My opinion, which I think is the general opinion, is that it's not as good.
The first two, however, are brilliant. I challenged Moosie to read them but she seems to prefer to stick to things she's already read. *stern glare*

I'm literally five pages into Titus Groan so I don't really have an opinion so far, but I know they are classics and I've liked other Peake.
I do think they are the sort of thing that La Moose would go for though. *stops glaring, tries to look cajoling*

I've tried to read the first book and never really got past the intro. I hated all the descriptions and using 10 pages to set the mood.

It's heavy on description, that's for sure. If you didn't like the beginning you probably won't like the rest of it.
