Happy New Year! I read a Jane Marple mystery yesterday while waiting for the midnight countdown. My boys all stayed up yesterday. For the past week, me and kids wake up around 9:00 am. Tomorrow morning will be tough for Franek, he needs to wake up at 7:00 am.

The Pre-Fab Four? Was that picture taken in the 70s?

I think the Monkees came out after the Beatles but were contemporary with them.
*fondly remembers their tv show*

I don't think I've ever heard of them.

Their (alternative) name is a pun on prefabricated houses (prefabs) that were built in large numbers after WWII. Not exactly inspiring. Edited to clarify.

The Monkees are also known as the Pre-Fab Four.

Yeah...I'm not sure why, since they were not "pre-", or before, the Fab Four (the Beatles). Indeed, they were cheap knock-offs using three actors (one with a glaringly thick Brit accent - Davy Jones) and only one musician (Michael Nesmith, later of the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band) and took on the silly videos (at that time, in a weekly television series) based loosely upon the video media which had already been done by the Fab Four ('Hard Days Night', 'Magical Mystery Tour', and the like). 'The Monkees' was nothing other than a situation comedy with music, cashing in on the contemporary popularity of the Beatles. Poor Michael Nesmith...he had to endure that.

There were a few bangs here but that's all

If there were 'bangs' here, I sure didn't hear them. Of course, it's nice and clear and really, really cold, so I did not go outdoors after dark. Heck, I didn't even make it past eleven pm before I was asleep.
New Year's Day dawned clear, dry, and cold.

I like the various time zones we all represent here! I got my first birthday wishes at just after 3 pm of the 30th, in my time from Ming, via Facebook. Later that evening, we were out with my BIL, who is exactly 4 years my junior, celebrating his birthday!

Yeah, I get kind of a twisted kick from 'living in the past', out here on the Left Coast.
It allows me to fashion long, tedious posts that y'all have to read first thing in your mornings. BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
The Brits are 8 hours ahead. The continentals are 9 to 10 hours ahead. Most of the USers are 3 hours ahead. I'm just a little behind; I've been told it's a cute little behind.

I find the time zones quite interesting as well. But they were more fascinating when I was a child.
