If you had to pick a non-human animal to be turned into what would it be and why?

Are we allowed to say cat? Or penguin?
Or moose or goat or any other established avatar animal.
I think being a pet cat with a warm house and regular food would be pretty cool.

It seems a comfortable life and all, but cats seem so displeased with everything, eternal grouches, no matter what happens. Doesn't seem like a happy life.

But complaining about things is a pleasure in itself.
What is your answer?

Probably a dog. They live very much in the now, and so many, many things appear to be their favourite thing ever. Finding joy in little moments like a tossed ball or the faint scent of a rabbit in the grass.

I agree, a warm home with plenty of food would be ideal. It would have to be a cat or a dog but I'm not sure which.

I think some animals have a good life, save from the fact that they are prey... I'd want a guarantee that I'd not be hunted and killed immediately!

A dolphin might be quite nice if I could evade the tuna nets

A guinea-pig in a good home.

I think cats are quite happy a lot of the time. People say they seem displeased but that just seems to be something lots of humans like to project on cats. And they purr. I would like to be a cat in a nice warm home where I got lots of strokes and nice food. Not cat food.

I think a lion, but somewhere like a reserve where I wasn't likely to be shot. Spending all day lying around in the sun - what's not to like?

So you're also saying cat ... except thinking bigger!

Actually I've been thinking it would be cool to fly. So I'll be an albatross.

Albatrosses live in cold areas, all the way in the south right? Or do they also live in the north? I could also be confusing birds.

don't they have to spend a lot of time harassing hapless sailors and appearing in Iron Maiden videos though?
Yeah a lion might be nice ... in a safari park or something. Plenty or space but no dumb hunters.

A tardigrade. So that even if the Earth blows up, I could survive in space.

Ah, but would you know you were surviving?

hmm, that is a fair point. But we're here discussing non-human animals we would want to be turned into, so we already settled for a level of consciousness lower than a human's.

A tardigrade, you mean? An almost microscopic group of animals also called water bears (because they are SO CUTE). They can survive drying out and hard vacuum in space and all sorts of things.

That's quite cute really. I wouldn't mind one for a pet.
And yes, I know, I know..

As long as I'm not abused, homeless, or getting eaten maybe a cat, house rabbit, or parrot.

Our local pub served a rabbit pie the other day and it was very popular.
