While we are on the topic, do people in Britain go to places like France to buy alcohol in bulk? I noticed on the page I went to look at taxation rates that the UK has fairly high taxes on alcoholic beverages (though not as high as ours) and France has a very low level on at least beer and wine.

I didn't realize there was a connection between tampons and electric wheelchairs

Including repairs on listed buildings ... although that lower rate application is being abolished.

...do people in Britain go to places like France to buy alcohol in bulk? There was a surge of people a while back that started doing it and I think some do. A lot of the people were doing it and then selling it on and Customs and Excise clamped down on it. I think a lot of people finally realised that the cost (in money and time) of hiring a van and going to France and back wasn't as worth it as they thought. I do see a lot of people on customs programmes on the TV bringing back enormous amounts of cigarettes, even bringing cases separately to fill with them. They often catch people bringing in stuff to sell on. One lot had about 5 suitcases full and were coming into the UK via Ireland, but Customs got wind of it and caught them and confiscated the lot, which must of hit them pretty hard!
