For reasons beyond my comprehension I keep dreaming about Blackpool tower ... though in various different forms. Last night I dreamed that I could see it from Whitehaven harbour. Blackpool was a fairly significant part of my childhood experiences so that might be why. I must admit that last time that I went there (Bill and Alan were part of the party) I was a bit disappointed with it .. not in the company but the fact that it was pissing it down and seemed full of rather aggressive people. It's not how I remembered it but .. sailor vee.

For reasons beyond my comprehension ... Could it be because you watched Strictly Come Dancing on Saturday night, which was held inside the Tower ballroom?

I went to Blackpool as a child, possibly even up the tower. Only vague memories of it.

No I did not watch Strictly Come Dancing .. even if I had a TV I would definitely have no inclination to do so.

I last saw it a year or so ago. The previous time, I went up it, too.

I've only been up it once when I was three or four and then only under extreme duress. It was at that point that I first realised that I really, really don't like heights.

I have observed it a number of times from a surrounding streets ... we have much better towers in Mordor ...

In the observation deck you're closed in. I never felt bothered by it, but I still couldn't get myself to walk over the transparent floor panel in spite of being assured by the guide that it's probably significantly newer and stronger than the rest of the tower.

I just saw an episode of "Don't Tell the Bride" (a guilty pleasure) that featured the Blackpool Tower. I had never seen it before the show.

I would imagine that Montreal is probably a safe enough distance from which to observe the Tower ...

Col unlesss I am misremembering it was not closed in when I went there but - it was over 35 years ago so I might be wrong. The walkway is fairly new .. I've never seen it.
