We haz one...bet you do, too.
Here, ours starts in October and usually runs to May or June, then clears out for mostly dry weather until mid-October, when the rains begin again in earnest. And around here, too.
Right now, in early December, we are in the midst of unusual 'monsoon' type weather, with voluminous amounts of rainfall in relatively short periods of time. This is overwhelming many systems present to deal with the resultant runoff. That, in turns, leads to flooding, sometimes with mudslides. We have that happening. Tillamook, home of cheeses, is awash....this is common enough. My imagination conjurs Holsteins in galoshes. Road washouts are common reports on local news.
So, it is a period of mild civic crisis.
In the midst of all this, there is one local group which is quite enthused at all the rain....downhill skiiers. And cross country skiiers. And snow boarders. The massive quantities of rain falling here in the valley (and in the Coast Range and at the coast) means that when that moisture gets to the Cascade Mountains, to the east of us, it is pushed up in elevation and cooled and, instead of rain, creates massive quantities of snow in the mountains. Fresh snow threatens mountain passes with bad drivers.

Wales' rainy season starts in January and usually finishes at the end of December...

We have rain all the time here. Welllll ... maybe that is not literally true but we do have more rainfall than the rest of the UK here in the Lakes. And the last month or two really has been horrendous. We're lucky that we live on a hill but a lot of my friends in other parts of the county have not been

Spring is usually our rainiest time but this year (or last year now) was well below average. Not that it ever rains what you'd call a whole heap. It's definitely rainier (is that a word?) than when I left Melbourne back in 2007.

I moved well up that scale! I grew up in a yellow part too, but moved west. I guess we can't have everything - mountains, beaches, stunning countryside... but shite weather for a lot of the year. Stops us getting too smug, I suppose. :/

I grew up in a 'rainy' region. I still live there. I wish it were enough to keep others away, but, nooooo...

More flooding in Cumbria in the last couple of days due to someone called Jonas .. sigh. Not as bad as last time and not where we are but people have suffered a great deal from flood damage around here the last couple of months. It's once too often.
