It is important for the rest of the world to try to understand USA and the Americans. I never learnt anything about the "Second amendment" in school but I've learnt by reading the Swedish newspapers after all these school shootings. And to explain it to my self and my family I say something like "It is sort of an American religion. And since it is an religion it is about belief and feelings and not accessable to reason or logic. Like: I believe in the holy Second Amendment and it's Prophet is NRA."

I was actually watching something earlier about the veneration of the American flag. That is something that just doesn't happen here .. I mean, there are people who will fly the Union or the St George flag but I've never encountered anyone who goes nuts over it and we don't have flags in school or anything.

Um...Inbred League, huh? I'm going to go out on a limb and a guess attendance was as a 'legacy'.
I remind you that W, Henry Kissinger and Antonin Scalia are also examples of Ivy League education....I'm sure there are more. Like Trump and Cruz.
For me, the term "Ivy League" is a sign of privilege, not intelligence.

Trump's latest idiocy is saying that his insults against women were intended to be 'entertainment.' Very entertaining.
NB i know that people are slagging him off for his appearance too and I guess that that's wrong also.

According to Huffpost, Clinton has a 5.1% lead whilst 5.6% are undecided. I met a business at the gym yesterday who was hoping Trump would win. He says that the American people are just fed up with their government, in the same way as people who voted for Brexit.

It is easier to control how orange you are, and what color and shape of dead rodent you have on your head than it is for women to all be "hot" as his daughter.

Maybe he just eats a lot of carrots. Apparently, in all seriousness, too many carrots can turn a person orange.

Maybe he just eats a lot of carrots. Apparently, in all seriousness, too many carrots can turn a person orange. Well...yes. But I don't think the fRump eats lots of carrots. I prefer to believe he mashes his face in to a freshly opened bag of Cheetos before each public appearance. He might even sit in it first.

Is that what we'd call Whatsits? Violent orange corn snack?
On a more serious note, who will be watching tonight's debate? I am quite looking forward to it. It might be the final nail in his coffin after the week he's had. That being said, given that I keep seeing people- even women - justifying his remarks about 'grabbing pussy' perhaps not.

I don't understand the people who try to justify Trump's behaviour by saying that "Fifty Shades of Grey" is a popular book. So what? I don't think they'd want that sadistic character as their president either...

I've not read 50 shades and don't much care for the premise but ultimately it's fiction. The fifty shades meme is making me absolutely furious.

Is that what we'd call Whatsits? Violent orange corn snack? I don't know Whatsits from anything, but these are Cheetos. They are covered with a violent orange powdered seasoning which clings and stains anything with which it comes in to contact. Eating them usually leaves your fingers, hands and the area around one's mouth a distinctive emergency orange which is unmistakable as anything other than Cheetos crud.

Cheetos actually have two incarnations. One looks like Kelly's photo, and the other looks like Wotsits. I prefer the Not Watsits looking ones, because they are crunchier and less like styrofoam.

Cheetos actually have two incarnations. One looks like Kelly's [the] photo [Kelly posted ITT], and the other looks like Wotsits. I prefer the Not Watsits looking ones, because they are crunchier and less like styrofoam. Other than the awkward wording, I concur. Admittedly, I thought that describing the various incarnations would be pedantic and nobody would really care. For me, the point was about the powdered cheese flavoring which is the same in both incarnations (but now there are various 'spicier' variations). I was wrong.

We used to call the larger Cheetos "corn trees" when we were growing up. I'm not really sure how that started, but I am fairly certain that it was just a thing us kids did and not some Minnesota slang.

Slightly back on topic, I am having a debate on a friend's wall with someone I don't know and don't really care to at this point who acknowledges that Trump is a maniac but says she's going to vote for him anyway because he's a Republican. This makes my brain hurt.

Unfortunately, it is not that uncommon. Here, at least.
That is the extent of their ability to engage in political discourse: Republican=Good, Democrat=Bad. It's like a hereditary disease, passed down by too much inbreeding.

Evidently from The Times there in the UK... I'd like to know the cartoonist's name so I could acknowledge them, but I cannot decypher the sig on the side of the lower right corner. Anybody know the artist? ETA: Got it...Morten Morland.
