The lead-up to this trip has been really chaotic* but at least I'm packed. So I can at least avoid the scenario from a recurring nightmare I usually have before a trip: I arrive at the airport, usually running late, only to discover that my suitcase is full of a jumble of useless stuff.
*You'd think if you're trying to pay your vehicle tax, the government ought to at least take your money without making a fuss.
A friend of mine is making perpetual vows in the Franciscan Friars of the Renewal. So there's that and some surrounding celebrations and reunions of people I studied abroad with. I'm going to be doing tourist stuff, too, if I can find any time.
So far I successfully got to my hostel (stupidly late but I knew that would happen - perils of picking a flight that arrives at 11:30 pm) and had a fitful night's sleep. Now for some tea and then off to meet some friends at St Patrick's.

Have an awesome time! I spent months reading trip reports and forums on NYC last year when we were thinking about a trip. I can't wait to go eventually but at this stage, no idea when it will happen!
The sight filled the northern sky; the imensity of it was scarcely conceivable. As if from Heaven itself, great curtains of delicate light hung and trembled. Pale green and rose-pink, and as transparent as the most fragile fabric, and at the bottom edge a profound fiery crimson like the fires of Hell, they swung and shimmered loosely with more grace than the most skillful dancer. ~ Northern Lights
