How would you all feel about eating this? I'm not talking about vegetarian meat substitutes such as soy or Quorn, but actual meat that's grown synthetically from cells rather than an animal. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cultured_meatI'm mainly pescetarian although 90% of the time I eat veggie stuff. I sometimes eat fish, very occasionally free range chicken but no red meat. I used to like the taste of meat when I ate it, but I'm not sure how I feel about the idea of cultured meat. I dunno why, maybe it's just too ... unnatural. But then so is a Quorn burger. Or a hot dog wiener, come to that.

It would not bother me .. in fact it would get rid of the feeling of guilt that I often feel when I eat actual meat. I do recall an experiment being done with this sort of thing though and the tasters said that, whilst it wasn't awful, it did not taste like proper meat.
Some meat substitutes are really very good though .I don't tend to buy them often these days .. maybe I should again.

I wouldn't mind eating it because I don't want to know where my meat comes from in any case. I generally don't eat a lot of meat and if I do I try to buy meat that's from farms that keep animal welfare in mind.

I would like to taste the synthetic meat. Would it taste the same as the real thing? Or would it taste "syntethic"? No animals would have suffered (long painful transports to slaughter for instance). Better for the environment and climate.

Would it taste the same as the real thing? Not at the moment. A synthetic burger was made with the right protein, I believe, but without the right amount of fat, and it's the fat that gives it the taste. But it would taste the same if it included fat.

I definitely would! Though I wonder if it would taste as good as a happy cow that stands out in the breeze, grazing on grass all it's life. That plays a role in the taste of good meat and I don't know if synthetic meat could replicate it.

I would definitely be willing to try it. Sometimes I wonder if I should become a vegetarian again, but I was not at all healthy then because I didn't manage to make up for the lack of meat.
