Six weeks till I will be putting my decorations up again. I know that I say this every year but this year really has gone very quickly. That said, I've spent a disturbing amount of it asleep.

I've been talking with my students about British pantomimes. It makes me long for Christmas and going to a pantomime...

Have you been to one in the UK?

What is a British pantomime? Is that like Punch and Judy?

A theatre play usually based on a fairytale such as Cinderella, with gaudy costumes, cross dressing - a man dressed as a dame - slapstick, and lots of audience interaction where the children especially shout out things like, "behind you" and "oh no you haven't".

I am not the world's biggest fan of pantomimes I must admit

I wonder if this year's pantomimes will feature scary clowns.

I don't really want to think about Christmas before Halloween.

I don't really want to think about Christmas at all. But certainly not before December. When did autumn turn into Christmas?

I keep telling myself that I will buy presents in time each year. I never do.

I usually buy them earlier, but this year I have been struggling to get ideas.

This year I don't have to think about christmas at all since we'll be flying to Vietnam. I'll probably pick up something in Vietnam for my bestie, and my family will all be with me in Vietnam so no need to get them anything.

I cancelled all that sort of thing for this year. With the wedding, house, moving and getting my grades in on time I'm swamped.

Yes, exciting and busy times for you!
Speaking of moving, apparently our landlord wants to sell up the place we rent. So depending on who buys, we may have to find a new home.

That sucks! Could the new owners raise the rent or repurpose the entire building?

That doesn't sound nice. Something similar happened to us in 2013, the landlord wanted to tear the house down and completely rebuild it. But for some reason, they weren't allowed to do that, so the three houses are slowly rotting to bits.

Ugh, moving house is traumatic. Being forced to do so is mean.

That sucks! Could the new owners raise the rent or repurpose the entire building? Either really. They might purchase as owner occupiers, in which case they have to give us a 60 day notice period once the settlement date has passed. They could also be investors in which case they'll be happy to keep us as tenants, but they could look at increasing the rent. As we're now on a month to month lease (we've previously had two 12 month terms but that was up in Feb and we never re-signed anything new) so the rent can be increased any time (with I think 60 days notice period also). If they did increase the rent I probably couldn't complain too much as we haven't had an increase since we moved in nearly 3 years ago. The agent who is going to be selling the property said once there was a buyer, he could let us know right away if they are owner occupiers, if that is the case we know to start looking for somewhere new. Although, since we first had contact about it two weeks ago, I have't heard anything from the agent. He was supposed to get in touch about taking photographs. Maybe we'll be in luck and the current landlord has changed their mind and decided not to sell! It appears the property would not sell for more than it was originally purchased at this time so maybe they will decide to wait. If it does go on the market, every Saturday we will have to leave the house looking neat and clean for people to come in and inspect.

I was forced out of an apartment I loved because the owners needed it for their elderly mother. I was not happy!

But for some reason, they weren't allowed to do that, so the three houses are slowly rotting to bits. So nobody is fixing them and nobody is living in them? That's kinda a bummer. I remember you having to move, it was not a nice time for you. I certainly don't look forward to it right now. As I'm currently job hunting, I thought we might move depending on where I get work, but I don't want to do that before I secure a job as I don't yet know where I'll end up.
