Getting less odd these days. A lot of sites now set a cookie when you visit their pages and refuse to deal images out to any request that doesn't carry it. It's to stop freeloaders linking to their server content for free!

I keep meaning to do something similar to mine, but tag the images "hosted from..." rather than just blocking.
