It's been lovely here the last few days. Not warm - very cold at nights indeed - but beautiful sun. The sort of weather my dad loved (he hated it when it was too hot). When he could still walk, he'd have walked for miles on a day like today.

It will be a long time until we see spring around here. I guess you get your love of walking from your dad.

We have had two glorious days of sunshine today. I told myself, when we next have fine weather, I would spend some time repairing the windows outside. That never happned. I spent the time enjoying the good weather... and I'm glad I did.

I hope it does not go murky again. Things seem more positive when the sun is out

We have dark skies and rain. I'm longing for spring as well. The season, not springs!

It is not warm here yet, but heating hardly doing anything now and not had frosty conditions for a couple of weeks now. Starting to think about removing thermal linings from motorbike leggings already.

It takes me 30 seconds to get to work, and it's all inside.

I have a corridor (unheated) between my house and the church. I manage to make the psychological shift between home and work in the 30 seconds it takes me to get there.
It's good when I forget something, but bad when people ring my doorbell for a handout.

When I first started working, I caught a bus and the journey, door to door, took about 20 minutes. When I stopped working, public transport would take 1½ to 2 hrs.

They just had an article in our newspaper this morning that said 25% of the "mega-commuters" in the US live in our metropolitan area. A mega-commuter defined as someone who goes over 50 miles and over 90 minutes each way, whether by car, public transport, or a combination. The average commute is something like 45 minutes.

I used to live within 15 minutes of the office. Then I was relocated and faced a 2 hr commute each way. So I moved house to reduce my travel time to 45 minutes. Ten years later, my company moved me again to a different location but fortunately the daily commute was only half an hour.
