I know it's started because *spoiler alert* Australia got through the semi final. It's very exciting, I actually like our act this year. Plus if we win, since we don't get to host Eurovision, we get to choose which city it will be in. We'll probably pick something boring like London.

You could choose Stockport. Stockport would be good.
I'm pleased Australia made it through to the final. The UK has rather lost interest in Eurovision though because the voting system gives us no hope of winning (everyone votes for their neighbours).

I was thinking about this yesterday - when is it? Saturday? Next Saturday?
Steve to be honest, I think we don't win because our entries are usually shite

We don't bother with good songs because we have no hope in winning.

I've heard the Netherlands are favourite. It's Sunday morning here, so I assume that is Saturday night for you. It's going to be a big weekend here, election night watching Sat evening and straight into Eurovision finals in the very early hours of Sunday.

How could Sweden ever win (6 times) if that was so, we don't have that many neighbours.

Now Sweden's John Lundvik is singing "Too late for love". It is the best of the songs I've heard up till now. (No, I am not partial at all.)

The audience's cheers tell me that Sweden will go on to the final.

The only one I would vote for hitherto is Switzerland.

Ah, I really like both Russia's and the Netherland's songs!

We have very different taste then. I heard the Dutch song and wondered how anyone could possibly like it. Not to mention the guy is so off putting, the way he was making googley eyes. Ulgh.

Who's going to be watching tonight?
RB are you staying up for it? A bit of brain bleach after your elections!
Spaceflower I guess!

Yes! Sweden is No. 9, UK is No. 16 (John Lundvik is one of the writers in both cases).

How could Sweden ever win (6 times) if that was so, we don't have that many neighbours. That's true but only twice since there was a large influx of east European countries. It was in 2003 or thereabouts that those countries entered the competition and started voting for themselves and making it very difficult for west European countries to win.

But it is not like Western countries never win anymore, they win most of the times. 2004-2018: 8 times the west won: Greece, Finland (at last!), Norway, Germany, Sweden, Denmark, Sweden again, Portugal. I don't know if Israel is considered west or east.

I didn't watch it. I can't stand most of the music in Eurovision. And it's on way too early. They repeat it again Sunday evening for us as well. But I already know who won.
