But I am starting to get a yearning for another cat. Not to be disloyal to Ted but - well, we have enough love for another and there are cats out there who need homes. Right now it's just an idle idea and we might never do it - to be honest, losing Ted barely seven months after adopting him was very hard and I am scared that it might happen again - but ... we'll think about it

A new cat will be a new cat who needs a home. Not a replacement for Ted. So it's a good thing to think about - knowing the risks as you do.

There's also the others to consider - Luthy especially does not welcome new faces.

W got out guinea pig Brillo the day after Gilbert died. I felt bad about it in some way, but we couldn't do anything else for Gilbert and Brillo needed a home. I still think it was the right decision.
