My mother in law recently had the idea to use Zoom so we can see each other and so they can see their little grandson (it's been 1 1/2 years since they have seen him which I think is quite sad). I have Zoom on my laptop, but have only ever used it to join meetings set up by others. This means I just click on the link which is provided. Frank apparently doesn't have the app on his laptop, but accessed it online.
Is it possible to just call one other person? Is it necessary to set up a meeting for that or would knowing the person's email-adress or name in Zoom be enough? We've been trying for weeks now (which is admittedly not easy when Malcolm distracts us) and we can't figure it out.

It's super easy, and yes you can Zoom to just one person (I do it all the time for meetings with our church secretary).
Open your Zoom app and go to schedule. Fill in the time you want to meet and toggle waiting room (untoggle passcode --you don't really need it with family). In video toggle both host and participants on, and in audio I usually leave it as both computer and telephone. Choose the caledar you want it saved to and press save. After you allow Zoom to access your account, the invitation will come up. You can copy the link and send it to your parents-in-law by email.

Yes! I don't particularly like Zoom but it does turn out to be quite easy.
Especially if you have clear step-by-step instructions like Kye's!

I've never tried it personally but Col uses it to stay in touch with various groups he's not been able to meet with for ages

We have managed to figure it out - thanks to Kye's instructions which I sent to Frank.

I like Zoom - it has been a lifeline for so many but it is not quite as stable as Teams (which I have to use for the university and for being a school governor).

The school I sometimes work at uses Teams. I have never used it, though because I have only worked in the classroom.
