'Cause there's pie!
Thanks to my successful venture in to growing rhubarb, this year I have enough to attempt the rhubarb pie. Specifically, the strawberry-rhubarb pie. I doubt I shall ever produce enough berries at any given time to make even one pie, much less two. So, I bought farm-fresh strawberries at the nearby farmer's market. Today augured well for pie-making, given that it was to be a nice day, but not particularly hot. And, as per usual, making pies renders my kitchen a minor disaster area in the process. I just pulled the pies out of the oven and I'm still chipping away at the mess. I think it's time for a nap.

I wish I could have pie... But not strawberry rhubarb --I'm not a fan of either.

To be honest, I'm not supposed to have pie, either. But, I will. I have to taste it. I've never made one before. I even made my first lattice crust! Most of it will get fed to my high Risk friends. So, if you could have pie, what would you order up? ETA image....

Please send pie!
Or at least pictures of it. I do like strawberries and rhubarb.

I like peach pie, apple pie, pumpkin pie, key lime pie, and I'll stop now because my mouth is watering...

My buddy Dave dropped by so we celebrated his masklessness (he's vaccinated and matured) with gin & tonics and strawberry-rhubarb pie.
I am happy to report that it fulfilled all my expectations. It is tasty pie. And, it can be hand-loaded in to the piehole; plate and fork unnecessary.
I have yet to try it with either vanilla ice cream or whipped cream, both of which I have on hand.

I like peach pie, apple pie, pumpkin pie, key lime pie, and I'll stop now because my mouth is watering... Yeah, I like all those. I rarely have peach pie, but cherry rates higher on my radar. Apple pie, of course, is my forte. I'm not much for cream pies, but I do like a premium lemon meringue pie on occasion.

That sounds so yummy! I usually make fruit cheesecake for every birthday but with yoghurt instead of whatever cream or cheese is used in cheesecake. That's yummy too and can be made to be semi healthy. I love rhubarb. I'd never had it until I went on a mooting trip to Canada. We ate it after church, made by one of the members. Now I get rhubarb from my neighbour who has a community garden plot with lots of veggies. Strawberries I have lots of myself.

A neighbour gave us a really nice lemon pie not long ago. I am not much of a one for rhubarb though.

Mmmm, strawberry rhubarb pie. Kevin's parents are visiting this weekend and said they'd bring rhubarb from their garden. Perhaps that's what I'll do with it.

I recommend. I can now harvest enough to make another couple of pies, but it is also prime apple pie time.
