It's that time of year again . Damp and chilly and all the large arachnids in the vicinity appear to think that they have a god given right to come in and take our hospitality. I do NOT like spiders.

They should catch mosquitoes and flies in the summer, and then immediately hibernate.

We're seeing lots of slugs aside from the spiders too.

My garden is always full of snails after rain. Except in the depths of winter.

We get slugs that come into the utility room sometimes. VERY unpleasant to stand on in bare feet (though probably not fun for them either)

Once upon a time, a very long time ago now, when I was a student I had some friends in the teacher training college who shared a terraced house. They had an indoor slug problem. Once we saw two slugs slithering up the kitchen wall on the furthest side from the back door ... directly towards the light switch. Proper horror film stuff.

Ew. I hate slugs, but not as much as I hate maggots. Maggots are viscerally disturbing.
