We have not had heating for ages - went all of last winter without it, though we had hot water - and were told when they did the gas safety check this summer that some pipe or other needed to be replaced. Col refused to put the heating on all that time because he said that the pipe leaked - it did - and that the heating just wouldn't come on or if it did, it would not stay on for more than three minutes and might end up fritzing the hot water too.
Anyway, I had a hissy fit an hour or so ago because I was freezing and I just could not face the prospect of another freezing winter. I insisted that he turned the heat on - I've got no fucking idea how to deal with that system right now, with the settings it is on - and so he did, just to shut me up.
But - it works! It actually works and the house is really toasty now. I don't know and don't really care how long it will stay on for but .. right now, the house is warm.
This has had a huge effect on my mental health.

I'm pleased you've got heat. Can you catch the drips?

I cannot stand being chilled. I left my last apartment because it was so drafty in the winter I ended up being chilled for 6 months. Never again!

Does that mean the felines will no longer need to snuggle up to you?
