With lashings and lashings of garlic and enough over for tomorrow

I haven't had pasta in ages. I gave myself leave to have mashed potatoes for Thanksgiving and have repeated that experience once since.
Dreams of great steaming heaps of carbohydrates.

I gave myself leave to have mashed potatoes for Thanksgiving and have repeated that experience once since. Curious. Most people up int' North would die if they didn't eat potatoes in some form or other every day.

I, like WG, can't eat potatoes regularly without my blood sugar spiking up to a scary level. Being diabetic means being very careful with some of the foods other people see as staples: potatoes, bread, rice, pasta --these are all foods that I love and would eat if I could but I just can't. Sucks to be us...

Indeed, my return to more potatoes after the 'special' holiday mashies was NOT a good idea.
I've gone back to a bagel a day as my primary carbo.

The thing with pasta is, it's cheap, it's easy to make and it's versatile. Tonight was leftover spag bol but put a bit of chilli in it

I, like WG, can't eat potatoes regularly without my blood sugar spiking up to a scary level. I'm sorry to hear that Although I'm diabetic, I depend on carbs for most of my meals, for example cereals, toast, sandwiches (and beer). I have to significantly limit my protein intake, vegetables and nuts because of my stomach disorder. Fortunately, I can get by most days and have only just started on diabetic drugs but they too have their problems.

I can eat one piece of whole wheat bread a day, but that's it. Beer is okay in moderation since alcohol lowers blood glucose (it gets stored in the liver instead --not ideal...)

Back to spag bol, I feel another meal of it coming on. Maybe over the weekend. Shame my mushrooms are refusing to grow but I can ask Col to buy some.

Outrageous! That's the one thing mushrooms are supposed to do!

I know right? I am such a bad gardener I can't even make mushrooms grow I tried twice and produced zero product. Mushrooms don't do it for me.
