Here in the US, we have a meat product which is known as 'Canadian bacon'. I believe it is what Brits refer to as 'back bacon'. To many a 'merkin, Canadian bacon looks to them like thinly sliced ham, and they treat them as interchangeable, the philistines. These are the same misguided fools that combined Canadian bacon with pineapple chunks on a cheese and tomato sauce pizza, so there is that. Anyway... One use of Canadian bacon here in the US is as the meat element in the assembly of a serving of Eggs Benedict. I was watching an online cooking demonstration on how to prepare Eggs Benedict. Typically, the Canadian bacon is pan-seared prior to the final assembly and there were complaints of the Canadian bacon curling in response to the flash heat of the skillet on the stove. One interested viewer posed the question: "What can one do to prevent the Canadian bacon from curling in the pan?" The demonstrator didn't miss a beat. His response was: "You have to take away their little brooms."

Hahaha, I hope he came with a more serious answer after that though.

Was there an actual answer though? Because it does, unfortunately

Nick the edges with a knife or kitchen scissors. I believe it's called 'snipping'; a series of short incisions perpendicular to the edge of the item.

So...That's how you take away their little brooms.
I grew up making fried bologna sammiches, so I've been doing that since I was a pre-teen.

Oh, it's been ages, but we did have spam on those occasions when my father might take the helm at the stove. But, I was a wee sprog.

I like spam .. though it's better fried than just straight from the can. It's not as cheap as you might think though.

I don't like pasta unless it's spaghetti. You don't like lasagna, macaroni & cheese, fettuccini alfredo, or ravioli?

You don't like lasagna, macaroni & cheese, fettuccini alfredo, or ravioli? That's correct. And probably not gemelli, orzo, farfalle, sopraccigli or stelline although I haven't actually tried them. I have tried many of the popular pastas and can tolerate lasagne.

ravioli unfortunately reminds me of very bad school dinners.

Well, I never knew that there was such a vast difference between spaghetti and fettuccini that one might be put off one and not the other.

Well, I never knew that there was such a vast difference between spaghetti and fettuccini that one might be put off one and not the other. Nevertheless, that is the case. We have a rather nice Italian restaurant ten minutes walk down the road from us and I have tried a few of their dishes. I much prefer Indian.

Well, they are basically the same thing, but spaghetti has a round cross-section and fettuccine has a flattened cross-section.
