Oh? Then cured, most likely. That 'smokey' description tends to go with cured meats.
Here, in the US, we have a variety of 'spiced frankfurters' which everybody I know calls 'Smokies'. They are even noted for having miniature ones which can be wrapped in dough and cooked into savory snax. I suppose one could eat them uncooked, but they are usually baked or braised.
