Perhaps that should be included as part of army recruitment publicity.

Guessing you had a veteran's day on Sunday? Because for us it was Father's day and I though "that's a little grim".

Rememberance Day we call it. I watched the Brit version for the first time and it's rather too pompous and they let the politicians put their wreaths down before the service men and women which I think is bollocks!

We had a couple of minutes silence in the lounge after church when everyone was drinking coffee. There were 80 adults and 12 young children and only one child was disruptive, which I thought remarkable because most of the children were quite young.

I agree with that. The thing that annoys me most is when it is just treated as a routine. The BBC, for example, forces poppies onto everyone on camera that week regardless when it is recorded and it ceases to become an act of remembrance and just something that is done for appearance's sake. Unfortunately, the press then perpetuates this by jumping up and down if anyone dares to not wear one, like they have committed some heinous act.

As a veteran, I got a free car wash and oil change on Sunday. Could have taken advantage of some free food offers, too, but didn't want to spend all day driving all over the place.

They were wearing them for several weeks. It's going to be like christmas soon, they'll start it in July.
