ew. You mean people actually watch soap operas that don't have vampires, werewolves, zombies or space cowboys in them?

Oh, it's after 9 pm now. I have two young boys, I need to put them to bed and at the end I usually fall asleep too

Me too. My sister is a fan of a Dutch one. She says it helps her unwind. I can imagine that: you can put your mind in an absolute coma and you could still follow the plot...

hee hee. They should make that part of the advertizing. Puts you into a brain coma so you can unwind!

Now I am being forced to watch Eastenders Coronation Street was bad enough the other day!!!

Is there a 'cult of Coronation Street" in England as there is here in Canada or is it just commonplace?

I don't know and I don't care! I find all the soaps as dull as can be! I used to enjoy The Bill, but they made it soap-like overnight and I went from videoing every episode to turning it off instantly in a manner of days. It used to be about the stories and then they made it about the characters and their suddenly crisis-driven lives.

see I like character-driven shows, but not SOAP OPERA character-drive stories! (unless there are zombies or vampires or werewolves or space cowboys at least!)

The awful thing about Eastenders was that even tho I'd purposefully avoided it for as many years as possible, it still seemed to feature the same people as it did ten, even twenty years ago. And they were horrible enough then

The only Canadian show I remember was that one abut the mounties .. Due South?

I LOVED Due South! Now my #1 Canadian guilty pleasure is Lost Girl, which is somewhat soap-opera-ish but it's okay because it has succubi and werewolves and faeries and stuff in it
